My previous vehicle was a Lexus ES350, and I started driving on a WWII Willys Jeep. My ideal budget is around Rs. 30 lakh, although I can stretch it slightly if required. My monthly running will be approximately 250 km, primarily in Bangalore city, along with one 500 km trip every four months. The car will usually be used by three to four people and will be chauffeur-driven most of the time. My priorities are safety, ride comfort, air-conditioning performance, and low NVH levels. However, my primary requirement is legroom. Please advise on the best option for my needs.

Buy the Toyota Innova HyCross Hybrid with captain seats. For chauffeur-driven usage in Bengaluru where rear legroom is king, nothing near this price gives you more usable space. The second row slides a long way, the chairs are high and supportive, and in the ZX (O) you even get the recliner with leg rest, which should feel close to your old Lexus car for back-seat comfort.

City use is where the hybrid shines - it glides off the line silently, rides gently over bad roads, and the cabin stays calm in traffic. The AC is powerful with roof vents for the rear, so three to four people stay cool without fuss. Safety kit is strong with multiple airbags and stability control, and higher trims add driver assists that help on longer runs.

One thing to know: the ZX(O) stretches the budget in Bengaluru. If you'd like to consider an EV instead, check out the BYD Sealion 7. It too comes with a captain seat second row option, and has one of the smoothest EV powertrains for the money. But it's not quite as spacious as the HyCross, and of course the associate EV drawbacks are there, especially range on your occasional long-distance trip.

Hi, my car usage is around 3,000km per month. Currently, I drive a 2020 Ford Endeavour diesel AT 4x4 and a 2017 Mahindra Thar CRDe 4x4 for rough and countryside roads. I enjoy driving both cars on these kinds of roads, although I experience quite a bit of body roll and physical strain. For city driving and highways, I use a 2017 Skoda Rapid diesel MT and an Innova Crysta diesel. I particularly enjoy driving the Skoda, while I prefer travelling as a passenger in the Crysta because of its comfort. As you can see, I have been a diesel car owner so far, but with diesel cars becoming less common in the market, should I consider switching to a petrol engine or a hybrid? My usage covers almost every type of Indian road, including metro cities, countryside roads, highways and hilly terrain, so I am finding it difficult to decide which car would suit my requirements best within a budget of Rs 40 lakh, with an automatic transmission. My top priorities are safety, with zero compromise, followed by driving comfort and the highest possible mileage.

You already have different cars for different purposes, but you haven't mentioned which of the four cars you would like to replace. Within Rs 40 lakhs, the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid is an excellent, tried and tested option. It is efficient, extremely spacious, and the ride comfort is good too. Also, with light steering, a responsive powertrain and good visibility and driving aids, it is very user-friendly. So unlike the Innova Crysta, which would be more suited for the chauffeur-driven, the Hycross is also surprisingly easy to drive too.You could also consider the new Kia Sorento, which seems excellent value for money. We haven't got a chance to drive or test it yet, however it seems spacious, well-equipped and on first impression, the interior quality seems to be excellent. This is one SUV you must test drive before finalising - it has both 2.2 diesel and 1.6 turbo strong hybrid options.

I have shortlisted two cars based on my preferences: the Innova Hycross and XUV 7XO. I am confused between the two. Go for the Toyota Innova Hycross strong hybrid. With your daily running of 15-20 km and occasional 60-70 km trips, a diesel does not make financial sense, and the hybrid will give you significantly better fuel efficiency in city driving than petrol. The Hycross is also the more comfortable and spacious 7-seater, with a proven Toyota ownership experience and lower long-term maintenance costs. The XUV 7XO is the better driver's car, offers more features and has a more premium cabin, but for your usage pattern, the Hycross strong hybrid is the more sensible and hassle-free choice.

Consider the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios AMT. It is the best fit for your requirements. The Nios is compact, easy to manoeuvre and has excellent all-round visibility, which makes it ideal for a new driver learning in city conditions. The AMT automatic takes away the stress of clutch control in traffic, making the learning process smoother and more confidence-inspiring. It is also a very reliable and low-maintenance car. You can also consider a Maruti Swift AMT, although the Nios is more compact, which makes it a bit easier to drive around town.

I am new to driving and am looking for a sub-4-metre petrol SUV with a torque converter automatic gearbox. My budget is around Rs 12-13 lakh on-road. I have shortlisted two options: the Skoda Kylaq Signature automatic and the Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro automatic. We are a family of five. My current usage is mostly within the city, but based on my future work requirements, it could shift to an 80:20 mix of city and highway driving.

Go for the Skoda Kylaq Signature AT. For a new driver with predominantly city use, its 1.0 TSI with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic is smooth and easy to drive, while the compact dimensions make it relatively easy to manage in traffic. It also has a more mature, planted feel on the highway.The Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro AT is the better choice if rear-seat space is the priority. Its cabin is wider and more accommodating for a family of five, and its 1.2 turbo-petrol makes 200Nm, giving it stronger low-end and mid-range performance than the Kylaq.However, the 3XO's boot is also one of its compromises, while the Kylaq offers a better balance of driving dynamics, boot space and highway manners. Which car should I buy among Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Petrol base or Kia Seltos petrol base? And also tell me if anyone has faced power issue or pickup issue while overtaking as I want the car for long term.

Between the two, the Seltos is the better choice, especially if you are looking at the base variant. It feels more premium, is the newer product and offers a more complete package even in its lower variants.The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol makes 115hp and 144Nm. It isn't a particularly powerful engine, but it is smooth and refined and is perfectly adequate for normal city driving.For overtaking, it won't have the punch of the Seltos turbo, but it isn't underpowered either. With a full load and during quick highway overtakes, you may need to plan ahead and use higher revs. The Grand Vitara's 1.5 petrol is also a smooth, simple powertrain, but its performance is more relaxed and the base variant is quite sparsely equipped.
