It seems that you drive over 3,000 km per month, which is significant. While a small EV like the Tata Tiago EV or Tata Punch EV would help offset high fuel costs, they may not be the best for frequent highway drives. Instead, the Maruti Swift stands out for its excellent fuel efficiency. The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is another good option. To further reduce running costs, consider the CNG variants of these models.

If you can install a charger at home, then go for the Tata Nexon EV 45kWh with your 250km daily Greater Noida to Gurgaon run, it is the calmest, lowest-cost way to cover this distance on a single charge. In our real-world testing, the 45kWh Nexon managed 350km (combined city and highway) on one charge, which is enough for your commute with some buffer. It feels smooth and quiet, pulls cleanly for quick lane changes, and the higher seating position and light steering make long hours less tiring.One thing to be aware of: at very high speeds, the range will drop faster, so stick to a steady 80–90kph to comfortably finish the day without a top-up. Hi, I currently own three cars – a Hyundai Verna 1.5 Turbo DCT, Kia Carens Clavis 1.5 Turbo DCT, and Tata Altroz petrol manual. I am now planning to sell them and buy either the Hyundai i20 IVT or the Skoda Kylaq automatic. My usage is mostly city driving, around 900 km per month. Please suggest which option would be more reliable and have lower maintenance costs.

The Skoda Kylaq is a well-rounded car. It feels a bit more engaging to drive as far as driving dynamics goes, and its turbo-petrol engine is much stronger than the i20's too. If you plan to take it on the highway too, the Kylaq will feel more effortless in comparison. Keep in mind, it rolls off from a standstill more aggressively than the i20, but you get used to it soon.The Hyundai i20 is smooth and refined, and the IVT feels seamless and very convenient for city use. Sure, performance isn't exciting like your other turbo-petrol cars, but for driving in traffic, it feels perfectly fine. Also, being a Hyundai, servicing and maintenance costs will be lower, too. In conclusion, purely as a city car, the i20 IVT does a great job; the Kylaq will be the better option if you also plan to drive on the highway.

I have a budget of 30 lakhs strictly, I already own a Hyundai Alcazar 2022 Diesel, I want to upgrade. I need a 7 seater, good performance and decent to good mileage car. Can you please suggest which one to buy? From 2022 to 2026, I drove my alcazar 90k km. My drive is basically mixed of 30% city and 60% highway and 10% off road(not serious off roading).

Go for the Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 Luxury AWD diesel automatic (7-seater) - for your mix of highway, city and a bit of rough road, it feels like a decent step up from your Alcazar while staying in the Rs 30 lakh range. The diesel has strong pull, so overtakes on the highway feel easy even with a full family, and the automatic gearbox, makes long drives and traffic much less tiring. Thanks to its thoroughly re-engineered suspension, ride comfort is good over broken patches and the cabin feels wider and more solid than your Hyundai. One thing to be aware of: the last row is fine for kids or short trips, but not very roomy for tall adults, and with all three rows up the boot is small. Also, it is a big car, so tight city parking needs some care. Moreover, while the diesel's mileage is better than the petrol's, it's not great and warrants a light foot for good numbers.Another alternative that gets you more spacious and comfortable seats and a better highway ride, the Tata Safari Accomplished X+ diesel automatic is worth a look, but it does not get 4WD.
