I am buying my dream car. With the upgrades seen in the XUV 7XO, I have booked the Diesel MT, but I am confused about variant selection. I am more inclined to the AX Diesel MT, which provides almost all the basic features. My budget is ₹18-20 lakh. Please advise.

While the Mahindra XUV 7XO AX diesel-manual packs in a lot for the money, we'd urge you to consider the higher spec AX3 that is still within your budget. The added Rs 1.7 lakh will get handy features like a reverse camera and electric mirror fold, as well as essentials like a rear defogger and rear wiper. These features add greatly to your long-term experience with the car, and are way more reliable than aftermarket solutions that might cost less.

You could also consider the petrol-AT AX3 or petrol-manual AX5 for the same money. Do note, while the petrol engine is smooth and powerful, it isn't very efficient. Fuel economy is on the low side.

I have range anxiety about buying the Mahindra XEV 9E. Should I buy the Toyota Innova Hycross ZX(O) or the Innova Hycross Exclusive Edition? Please advise.

If you are worried about the range on any EV, then it's best to stay away. An EV only makes sense if you have provision for charging at your home or place of work, and if your long runs can be done with ideally none, to no more than one stop to charge. We tested the larger battery (79kWh) Mahindra XEV9e in our standard test cycle, and it showed a range of 456 kms in the mixed city and highway cycle. Thus, if your long trips are around 300 to 350 kms with not too many inclines and a lot of load in the car, you should be fine for a stop-free trip. If this proves to be a problem for you, opt for the Toyota Innova HyCross. As for your query about the Exclusive edition, we don't think it will be available at dealers, as it was supposed to be a limited run. In any case, the differences were mostly cosmetic, with only an air purifier, a wireless charger, and a footwell lamp being the added equipment.

This will be my last bike purchase. I am 54 years old and want a bike with very good performance (above 30 bhp and strong torque) as well as the highest riding comfort for both me and a pillion. I prefer a somewhat heavier bike with wider tubeless tyres, dual-channel ABS, switchable traction control, a smooth 6-speed gearbox with a multi-plate wet clutch and assist & slipper mechanism. I do not like the riding posture of bikes like the Royal Enfield Meteor.

Since you haven't specified your budget or displacement cap, recommending something accurately won't be possible. So we will give you a bunch of options across different displacement and price brackets. The type of machine that will best meet all your criteria is an adventure bike. At the lower end of the spectrum, you can take a look at the TVS Apache RTX 300, which has all the features you want and then some in its top-spec BTO guise. One step above that would be bikes like the KTM 390 Adventure models and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, which are excellent all-rounders at pretty decent price points. If you can stretch for it - and since this is your final bike purchase, we would strongly recommend you do - the Honda NX500 makes a serious case for itself. With its twin-cylinder engine, it will have the obvious refinement advantage over the other bikes mentioned here. It is also a machine that has cemented its reputation for reliability and low ownership costs over time. Also, it checks the feature and riding experience boxes that you are looking for. That being said, it would be advisable to take a test ride of each bike and see which one suits you best before making a decision.

I need a new petrol SUV with all safety features, priced between ₹10 lakh and ₹15 lakh. My use will be limited to about 500 km a month in a small-town area, with occasional long drives of no more than 500 km at a stretch. I am a 69-year-old senior citizen who prefers self-driving. Please advise.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO would be a good option for you. At your budget, you will get a variant with a level 2 ADAS suite, though this won't be too much use in small town areas and it's best out on the highways. However, we would recommend this as the car is well equipped with safety features like six airbags, and it has secured a full 5-star crash rating in the BNCAP tests. Also, since you like driving the 3XO is a car that you will enjoy being behind the wheel of.
