I’m a new driver looking for a premium automatic hatchback within a ₹10 lakh budget. I’ve shortlisted the Baleno Zeta AGS, Tata Altroz Creative AMT, and Hyundai i20 Sportz iVT. Considering fuel efficiency, reliability, safety, comfort for long drives, and ease of driving as a beginner, which of these three is the best option?

The Maruti Baleno AGS is a proven, reliable hatchback, which will be the most fuel-efficient option from the bunch. It offers good space, comfort and is likely to deliver a trouble-free ownership experience.

Between the three, it is the best option for a new driver. You could also consider a Toyota Glanza, which is the badge-engineered Baleno, but comes with beige-black interiors.

Hi, I am planning to buy a new car with an on-road budget of up to Rs 10.5 lakh. My usage is very low, not even 200 km per month, and I want a car that is reliable for long-term ownership, has low maintenance and delivers at least 15 kmpl mileage in the city. I usually drive at speeds of around 80-100 kmph. I am confused between the Maruti Baleno Zeta, Honda Amaze VX, Tata Altroz Creative, Tata Punch and Kia Sonet HTK Plus. Which car would be the most suitable choice?

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be the best pick for you. It delivers the best fuel economy and will be the most affordable to maintain and service. The Baleno is a nice product too. It's pleasant to drive with peppy performance for city use and is quite spacious for its size.

I want to buy a new car and keep it for a lifetime. My budget is Rs 10-12 lakh. It should perform well in hilly terrain and I do not need features like a sunroof or other sophisticated electronics. I only want a good AC and, if possible, a good sound system. Which car would be the best choice?

If you are looking for a car that will last you a lifetime, we would recommend you go for a Maruti Suzuki car. The brand has a reputation for reliability and low maintenance costs. In your budget, you can consider the Maruti Suzuki Fronx with the 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine. The turbocharged engine has enough grunt to tackle hilly terrain, and ground clearance is better than that of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. It’s based on the AC is superb, and it has all the essential features you might need, without a sunroof.

Hello, I have a Baleno Delta petrol 2021 model, and now I want to change/upgrade to a car equally or more spacious, especially the rear seat and the boot. I drive nearly 6000km per year, with 80% running on the highway. My budget is around 8-10 lakh. I also want an adjustable/higher driver seat, as I am not very tall. Please suggest a fuel-efficient car.

Since you've already owned a 2021 Maruti Baleno and you've been happy with the car, you could consider the top-spec Toyota Glanza - it is a badge-engineered new-generation Baleno, which will feel like a prominent upgrade. An added advantage of the Glanza is its beige-black interior colour scheme, which is brighter and looks more upmarket than the Baleno. Also, the Glanza is powered by a smooth and refined 1.2-litre petrol engine, which feels adequately powerful for the highway, and it is very efficient. So while the car will feel very familiar to your outgoing car, in a way, it will feel amply different, to give you a new car feel. You could also consider a Tata Nexon for its high seating, turbo-petrol engine, spacious cabin and boot, and an overall tough feel, all of which you will appreciate on your highway drives. Fuel efficiency, however, isn't likely to be as impressive as the Glanza.
