I am looking to buy an electric two-wheeler. My daily commute is around 40 km, and budget is not a constraint. I am primarily looking for a scooter with good real-world range and a reliable service network. Could you please suggest the best EV two-wheeler options for my needs?

Be aware that as the battery life diminishes you will spend more on charging with declining range. Besides the increasing cost, the vehicle will become impractical due to rapidly diminishing range available between charges. Your only route out will be to scrap the vehicle as the cost of replacing the battery will far surpass it's overall value at that time. EVs have very poor fundamentals for long-term ownership and usage.

With your lengthy daily run, you should look at the TVS iQube ST 5.3. Its large battery is the most suited to your use case especially since you also carry a heavy load with you every day. Expect the battery to drain out a little more quickly while carrying load than if you ride solo. You may have to find a charging point for a quick top-up somewhere in between but by and large if you're sensible with your throttle hand, you should be able to finish your daily run in a single charge. I have a 2009 Hero Honda Xtreme that has seen very little use. I am now planning to scrap it and buy something new. I am considering an EV, specifically either the Ather Rizta or the TVS iQube. Which one would you suggest? My daily travel would be around 20-25km. Even if I buy the 2.2kWh version, the range will reduce after a few years due to battery ageing. My main concern is battery longevity and warranty.

Both the Ather Rizta and TVS iQube are great options, and no matter which one you choose, you realistically cannot go wrong with them. The Rizta has much more tech, and even its small battery gives you 105km of real-world range on a single charge. Its boot is also better shaped than the iQube's, which means a good-quality imported full-face helmet will fit inside alongside the charger, provided you thoughtfully arrange everything inside.On the other hand, the TVS iQube is as simple as an electric scooter gets and is a no-nonsense machine which just keeps running without fault day in and day out. TVS's service reach across the country is better than Ather's, so the iQube makes for the logical purchase, but it's not like the Rizta is an outlier. Picking between the two will be made easier once you get a test ride of both and see which one you're leaning toward more.No matter which option you choose, your commute is short enough that a normal amount of range drop after a few years will not majorly affect you.

I was planning for a scooter, and my options were Burgman Street, Access and Activa, but I got to know that Honda is going to launch its maxi scooter ADV160 in India by the end of 2026 or early 2027. I decided to wait and go for it as I am very impressed with its looks and performance (seen some reviews of the Thailand and Philippines versions). Autocar team, can you help with whether it is worth the wait in terms of value for money, city and highway riding comfort and ownership?

There's no telling if a future product will meet your individual expectations regarding value for money, riding experience and overall peace of mind from an ownership standpoint. If you are interested in the Honda ADV160, we'd recommend you wait until media and ownership reviews are both out before you go ahead with your purchase to make an informed decision.If you are not comfortable with that, then pick between the proven options you have shortlisted above by taking a test ride of each scooter.

I have lower back pain and currently ride a Bullet 350 ES with gas-filled rear suspension and a well-padded touring seat. It is comfortable on long rides, but fuel efficiency with E20 fuel is a major issue. I also have to use additives or fill premium petrol; otherwise, power delivery becomes jerky. Putting XP100 improves efficiency substantially, but the price difference is significant, and availability is limited. I want to buy an additional scooter or a 100-150cc motorcycle that is very kind on my back. I recently read about the Destini 110 having superb plush suspension. What else would you suggest within a budget of under Rs. 1 lakh for around 150km of daily riding? The bike must have excellent suspension and ride quality.

Since your daily run is quite long and you value comfort and fuel efficiency over all else, we'd recommend you stick with a commuter motorcycle. In your budget, if you want a bike that's comfortable over bad roads, then the Bajaj Platina 110 is our recommendation. Its thickly padded seat, pliant suspension and neutral ergonomics will keep you comfortable for longer distances over all sorts of roads. The Platina's one big drawback is that it cannot be had with a disc brake, and its drums provide only adequate performance.In that vein, it would be prudent to look at the TVS Radeon. The Radeon has similar strong suits as the Platina, but it can be had with a front disc brake on its top variant, which is the one we'd recommend for reliable stopping power over a longer duration.Take test rides of both to see which one you resonate with more before you make your decision.

I am looking for an all-rounder motorcycle that can be used comfortably by both me and my father. He is 58 years old and 5'4" tall. We'd recommend you and your father pick between the TVS Ronin and Royal Enfield Hunter 350. Both meet the criteria that you have listed above but offer markedly different riding experiences. The Hunter has a slow-revving, torque-rich, long-stroke motor with a lovely thump mated to an agile and responsive chassis that sounds like it shouldn't work but we (and lakhs of people who have bought one) think that it does.The Ronin's engine is similiar in character but feels relatively more sporty as does its handling. It is also a much lighter bike and has a lower perch, so for shorter riders, it will be easier to manage. Its oddball looks aren't to everyone's tastes and TVS' service doesn't have a stellar reputation either - two points to bear in mind from an owner's POV. Take test rides of both bikes to see which one resonates more with you before you make a decision.
