I currently own a Hero Hunk Double Disc 2015 model with over 85,000 km on the odometer. I want to purchase a new bike. My daily run is about 60 km, mostly in the city (90%) with very limited highway use (10%). I’m confused between 125 cc and 150-160 cc bikes. My priorities are good mileage, strong engine life, smooth performance, reliability, durability, and low maintenance. I have shortlisted some bikes, but I am very confused. The shortlisted bikes are: in the 125 cc segment - Honda SP125 and Hero Glamour X; in the 150 cc segment - Pulsar 150 top model split seat dual disc and Yamaha FZS Hybrid; and in the 160 cc segment - Honda SP160 and Bajaj Pulsar N160 dual disc with dual channel ABS. I want a commuter bike that is sporty and stylish with mileage of at least 45-50 kmpl. Please advise.

In the 150/160cc commuter bike segment, options like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160 are great bets if you want your commuter to pack in a little bit of spice and some feel-good features like a USD fork, TFT display and the like. These bikes are also quite fuel efficient and comfortable, making them good daily-use machines. If, on the other hand, you want a simple, no-nonsense commuter, then we'd advise you to look at the Honda Unicorn / SP160. Both are mechanically very similiar but the SP has more features and sharper styling than the Unicorn which has the same silhouette since it debuted 20 years ago. Depending on the sort of bike you prefer, make a choice between these three. To make an informed decision, we'd recommend test rides of all three before you make your purchase.

The ex-showroom price of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is Rs 3.17 lakh, pan-India, and we guess that you and the dealer are getting your wires crossed with regards to ex-showroom and on-road pricing. Many people say off-road when they mean on-road. Ask the dealer for a clean breakup with ex-showroom, road tax/RTO, insurance, and every add-on listed separately. Remove anything you don’t want, and you’ll see the number drop a bit, but it most likely won’t get anywhere near the figure you're being quoted for a new Ninja 300 in India today.

First things first, E20 petrol is going to stick around for the foreseeable future, and while multiple higher ethanol blends are likely to be introduced later, E20 will be the baseline, which will be available predominantly at all fuel pumps in the country. Therefore, if you buy an E20-compliant vehicle, then you can safely use it for the coming years. Secondly, the CB300F Flex Fuel - as well as the standard E20-compliant variant - has been removed from Honda's website, and it is quite likely that the model has been discontinued, although perhaps some dealers may have leftover stocks depending on the region.
