I have a 2009 Hero Honda Xtreme that has seen very little use. I am now planning to scrap it and buy something new. I am considering an EV, specifically either the Ather Rizta or the TVS iQube. Which one would you suggest? My daily travel would be around 20-25km. Even if I buy the 2.2kWh version, the range will reduce after a few years due to battery ageing. My main concern is battery longevity and warranty.

Both the Ather Rizta and TVS iQube are great options, and no matter which one you choose, you realistically cannot go wrong with them. The Rizta has much more tech, and even its small battery gives you 105km of real-world range on a single charge. Its boot is also better shaped than the iQube's, which means a good-quality imported full-face helmet will fit inside alongside the charger, provided you thoughtfully arrange everything inside.

On the other hand, the TVS iQube is as simple as an electric scooter gets and is a no-nonsense machine which just keeps running without fault day in and day out. TVS's service reach across the country is better than Ather's, so the iQube makes for the logical purchase, but it's not like the Rizta is an outlier. Picking between the two will be made easier once you get a test ride of both and see which one you're leaning toward more.

No matter which option you choose, your commute is short enough that a normal amount of range drop after a few years will not majorly affect you.

It offers a strong hybrid system that delivers excellent fuel efficiency in city driving, a spacious enough rear seat and a reasonably sized boot. The ride quality is comfortable and Maruti's service network in Pune is among the best in the country. The hybrid system also makes a meaningful difference on long drives, where the petrol engine and electric motor work together to deliver smooth and efficient performance. This Maruti Suzuki car is essentially the same car as the Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder underneath, but it gets a more premium interior and a better feature list, including Level 2 ADAS at a similar price point. The Hyundai Creta EX(O) Summer Edition manual is certainly the more sensible choice - it is a larger, more spacious car with a larger 1.5 petrol engine. It even has a bigger boot, making it the better family car. However, if this car is exclusively going to be used by you, we'd recommend the Venue N Line N6 for its sporty and fun-to-drive nature. The 1.0-turbo is strong, and the dual-clutch automatic transmission will be very convenient while driving in city traffic.In summary, the Creta petrol manual is a better family car, but as your first car, the Venue N Line DCT will not only be more convenient to drive but will also feel more special.

The TVS Apache RTX 300 is surely the more capable, feature-rich and well-rounded motorcycle of the two bikes you have shortlisted. However, TVS' after-sales network is infamous for having a hit-or-miss experience and add to that, the RTX itself has been experiencing concerning issues almost a year after its launch. The KTM 250 Adventure might not be as enticing a proposition as the RTX on paper, but it remains the safer buy because it comes from a brand with a proven track record, and the bike itself has also not been reported as having widespread reliability concerns.

Since your father is already familiar with the venerable Activa, stepping up to the Honda Activa 125 would be a good idea. The Activa 125 is smooth, has decent comfort, will be easy to manage and hassle-free to own over a longer period. If you want a change of pace, the Suzuki Access 125 would be our recommendation. The Access has trademark strengths expected of a practical, family-oriented scooter, like being fuel-efficient, comfortable, practical and reliable, but also throws zippy performance into the mix. Take your father for test rides of both before zeroing in on your next purchase.
