Another race weekend in 2025 sees Marc Marquez emerge victorious in both races at the Czech GP. He's also become the most successful Ducati rider of all time, winning five Grand Prix races in a row. With his win at Brno, the Spaniard now has a huge 120-point lead over runner-up and younger brother Alex, as we head into the summer break.

  1. Acosta scores double podium at Brno
  2. Martin finishes seventh at Czech MotoGP

Marc Marquez wins both races in dominant fashion

While Francesco Bagnaia qualified on pole, he was overtaken at turn 3 in both the Sprint and full-length races by his teammate, Marquez, who then streaked away at the front. In the Sprint race, some tyre pressure warnings meant Marquez intentionally dropped behind the KTM of Pedro Acosta and artificially spiked his front tyre pressure to meet the minimum stipulated requirements. Bagnaia too dropped some positions but was unable to climb back up the order and ultimately finished a distant seventh. Marquez, meanwhile, overtook the KTM rider on the penultimate lap and cruised to victory in the Sprint.

The main race was a different story with Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi getting the better of both the factory Ducatis and taking the lead for a few laps. However, Marquez steadily closed the gap to Bezzecchi and overtook him at turn 3 to take the race lead. Once he was at the front, neither Bezzecchi nor Acosta – the other podium contenders – were able to match the Spaniard’s electric pace. Pedro Acosta finished on the podium in both races, for the first time in his MotoGP career.

Three Aprilias inside the top seven at Czech MotoGP 2025

While Ducati has proven to be the dominant factory and bike to beat in MotoGP in recent times, the 2025 Czech MotoGP race saw three Aprilia riders finish inside the top seven – a statistic that cements the Noale-based factory’s position as Ducati’s closest rival so far.

Marco Bezzecchi has been having a good show of form and result so far with a victory in the British GP and back-to-back podiums since then. Satellite team Trackhouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez – the most experienced rider in the Aprilia camp – finished P5, making it his best-ever MotoGP result to date.

Last but certainly not least was reigning World Champion Jorge Martin who finished P7 and displayed a race pace similiar to his podium-finishing teammate in the latter stages of the race. Martin, who has made his return to racing after a torrid few months – suffering serious injuries and mired in rumours of wanting to quit Aprilia  has reaffirmed his commitment to the brand and says he will honour his contract and stay with the team as per the stipulated term of 2 years, till the end of 2026.

2025 MotoGP standings

As we head into MotoGP’s summer break, Marc Marquez seems to have one hand on the 2025 World Championship title. Since the younger Marquez had a rough weekend at Brno, finishing a dismal 17 in the Sprint and crashing out of the main race, he failed to score a single point this time around.

Despite that, he has a 48-point lead over Francesco Bagnaia, who is placed third in the standings. With his recent string of strong results, Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi is now fourth, emerging as the top non-Ducati rider in the Championship, albeit 57 points behind Bagnaia.

MotoGP will now return after a 3-week break on August 15-17 at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria.
