If ever there was a doubt that the recent GST 2.0-driven reduction on petrol-powered vehicles would dampen sales of electric two-wheelers, then September 2025 retail sales numbers have banished that. As per Vahan statistics up until October 1, 2025, over 1.04 lakh electric 2-wheelers were sold last month, a 15 percent increase from September 2024.
  1. TVS has a 22 percent market share
  2. Ola slips to No. 4, with only 13 percent share
  3. Hero MotoCorp now close to beating Ola to 4th place

Bajaj regains number two spot

e-2W sales have remained constant despite GST 2.0

Unlike the electric passenger vehicle industry, which has felt the heat of the surge in demand for ICE models, the e-2W segment has been far more resilient. And also the fact that e-2Ws are the most affordable form of e-mobility.

TVS Motor: 22,481 units

TVS is in great nick this year. Having topped the market for the first time in April 2025, the company has held onto the No. 1 e-2W OEM title for the sixth month in a row. In September, TVS sold 22,481 units, up 27 percent year on year (YoY), which gives it a 22 percent market share for the month.

Bajaj Auto: 19,519 units

Bajaj, whose ranking had dropped from No. 2 to No. 5 in August due to rare-earth magnet-related production hurdles, is back in its usual spot. The Pune-based company reclaimed the No. 2 position with over 19,500 units in September, up 16 percent YoY. This total is 2,962 units behind TVS, giving Bajaj Auto a 19 percent market share.

Ather Energy: 18,109 units

Ather is maintaining the strong growth that it has displayed from the start of the year, with a 17 percent market share in September. However, despite holding the same market share as the previous month, the Bengaluru-based e-scooter maker jumped to third place for the first time. With 18,109 units, September 2025 was Ather’s best sales month since its market entry in CY2018, marginally beating the previous best of 18,069 units in August 2025.

Ola Electric: 13,371 units

Ola, the e-2W market leader not very long ago, now ranks fourth. In September, Ola delivered 13,371 units, down 57 percent YoY, with a market share of just 13 percent. It is the sole e-2W OEM in the top 10 to see a YoY sales decline in September 2025. This decrease is despite Ola offering massive festive discounts, with scooters on sale for below Rs 50,000.

Hero MotoCorp: 12,736 units

Hero MotoCorp’s EV business continues its upward climb, and the company sold 12,736 Vida e-scooters in September, a 310 percent YoY jump from 4,759 units. Hero’s monthly EV sales have crossed 10,000 units for three consecutive months, and the company is now just very close to snatching fourth place from Ola Electric.

Greaves Electric Mobility: 4,271 units

GEM, the EV arm of Greaves Cotton, which markets the Ampere brand of e-scooters, maintains its sixth rank with 4,271 units. This constitutes a strong YoY growth of 51 percent and gives it a 4 percent market share. The company has three key e-scooter brands: Nexus (EX and ST), Magnus (Neo and EX) and Reo (80 and Li Plus).
