I have Verna SX IVT 2023 model. Ivt and NA. Really smooth, no issues. However facing less economy in potholes filled roads near home, being automatic car usually drive in 1 gear rpm when going extremely slow and using daily in potholes filled roads gives too low mileage. Being sedan not confident to drive faster and being long car not easy to drive in narrow roads. Planning to to get a car to handle potholes easily and reliable car with God mileage. What is best, Mahindra Bolero neo or seltos diesel automatic, creta ev or carens ev in budget of 19 lakh.

New Seltos or Carens Clavis? I'm pretty confused. The Seltos was always my first choice, but if the Carens has the same engine, why not go for a 6/7-seater with almost the same dimensions and for a little extra cost? I'm considering this because we're a family of 5, and occasionally our extended family joins us on drives.

If you need the added space and practicality, go for the Carens Clavis. With a family of 5 and extra folks joining at times, the third row and the longer wheelbase make everyday life easier. You get the same engines and gearboxes as the Seltos, so the driving experience and mileage will be similar, but the Carens gives you far more cabin flexibility - slide and recline second row, a usable third row for kids or shorter adults, and vents for everyone.Bear in mind that with all three rows up, boot space is limited, so on full-house trips you will have to pack light or fold a seat. It's also worth noting that the 2026 Seltos is now a generation ahead of the Clavis, which means a wider body, softer suspension and new-age electronics and features. However, for your use case and priorities, the Carens Clavis gets you some much-needed extra space and flexibility.

Hi Autocar, my budget is Rs. 20 lakh or less, and I am looking for an automatic car. My usage is quite low, with only around 15-30 km of driving per week, along with occasional long-distance trips. I usually travel with a family of five, and at times, one or two additional members may join us. Based on my requirements, could you please help me choose the most suitable option and variant from Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Kia Seltos, Kia Carens Clavis and Honda Elevate. Which one would you recommend, and which variant should I consider?

Pick the Kia Carens Clavis petrol automatic for your use case. You sometimes need six or seven seats, and your running is low, so a petrol automatic with a roomy 3-row cabin makes far more sense than a 5-seat SUV.The Carens Clavis gives you proper family flexibility: five can ride in comfort, and when one or two more join, you have a usable third row for short trips. With the third row folded, the boot is big enough for plenty of luggage. The ride is comfy, it comes feature-loaded and getting in and out is easy for elders. Go for the 1.5 petrol with the automatic in a mid trim to stay near your Rs. 20 lakh cap.

I recently sold my Celerio ZXi(O) manual and am looking for a new car under Rs 13-14 lakh. I am not keen on turbo or 3-cylinder engines. My yearly running is around 8,000-10,000km, with 70% city use. I shortlisted the Honda Amaze ZX CVT/MT, Honda Elevate V MT and Kia Seltos HTE(O) MT. I also checked out the Kia Carens Premium(O), Kia Syros HTK+/HTK+(O). I want something comfortable for my parents, suitable for bad roads and reliable in the long term, especially with future E27 and BS7 norms coming. What should I buy? I am mostly a sedate driver, but occasionally like to put pedal to the metal on highways. I am buying it in the second half of June 2026 and will pay upfront. P. Given your specific requirements and budget, you should consider the Honda Elevate V MT. It comes with a simple 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with four cylinders. This Honda car feels smooth and easy to drive in traffic and has enough punch for those rare highway runs. The higher seat offers a good view out, and the good ground clearance makes dealing with bad roads easy, while its size is still friendly for city parking. Rear space is good, the backrest angle is comfortable, and the entry to the cabin isn't very high, all of which your parents will appreciate. However, if your parents’ comfort takes top priority, the Kia Carens Premium 1.5 petrol is the alternative to consider for its reclining and sliding second row and softer ride. It’s easier for elders to get in and out, but it's harder to park.

Hi Autocar, I am planning to buy a car that offers good comfort and strong road presence with an on-road budget of ₹14 lakh. I have shortlisted the following options: Skoda Kushaq base variant, Kia Seltos base variant, Kia Carens Clavis base variant, Mahindra XUV 3XO base variant, and Citroen Aircross 7-seater. We travel long distances once a month, and I already own a 2017 Swift ZDi diesel variant. Kindly suggest which car I should choose from the above options and also recommend the most suitable variant. Since I have provided multiple options to the Autocar team, I would really appreciate your advice as a car enthusiast.

For one long highway trip a month, a ₹14 lakh on-road cap, and a step up in comfort from your Swift diesel, the Kia Seltos HTE 1.5 petrol manual suits you best. As far as base variants go, the Seltos is very well equipped, with features like cruise control, keyless entry, and an HD infotainment screen with wireless phone connectivity. The new generation also rides better than the last one, has a roomier cabin, and better road presence. Compared with your Swift, it will feel far more spacious and calmer at speed, and the big boot makes luggage easy. The Skoda Kushaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO base variants are good choices, but will feel a bit smaller on the inside. If you need 7 seats, the Kia Carens Clavis offers a similar experience to the Seltos, but its base trim is not as well equipped. The Citroen Aircross 7-seater offers superb ride comfort, but the service reach of Citroen is still limited in many cities.Overall, for your use, the Seltos base lines up best.
