Toyota will show a new research vehicle based around driver awareness at the LA motor show later this month.

The new driver attention research vehicle is aimed at reducing distractions for drivers, even before the car has set off.

The concept car will be accompanied by the results of Toyota's research into driver distractions, which includes disturbances associated with traditional voice-activated in-car infotainment systems.

The company will also reveal details of a new driving simulator, to be based at Stanford University, which it hopes will reveal new data on the way cars and drivers interact, which it hopes will help Toyota to move closer to a fully autonomous vehicle.
