Tata X451 hatchback teased ahead of Auto Expo 2018 unveil

The Tata X451 hatchback has been teased twice so far.

Tata has begun teasing its upcoming Hyundai i20 rival, the X451 hatchback which is set to be unveiled for the first time at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018. The carmaker has revealed two teasers so far that preview parts of the car’s front bumper and sides. The second teaser also confirms that the car would have a Nexon-like faux ceramic insert below its window-line.

With the X451, Tata Motors will introduce the next level of its styling theme – Impact Design language 2.0. The stylish Tiago hatchback, Tigor compact sedan and the Nexon compact SUV are based on the brand’s first level of Impact design language.

The Tata X451 will be the first model to be built on Tata Motors’ Advanced Modular Platform (AMP), the base for the company’s future small car range. The X451, which is positioned above the Tiago, will be Tata Motors’ first premium hatch that will take on the likes of the segment leaders – the Maruti Baleno, and Hyundai i20.

Mechanically, the X451 will get uprated versions of the Tiago’s 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.05-litre diesel motor. The Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine may also be introduced at a later date. Expect a launch date sometime in 2019.

Along with the X451, Tata will also showcase its new H5 five-seater SUV along with the Tigor Sport
