Skoda recently reached a milestone, with its 15th million model rolling off the assembly line at a Skoda plant in the Czech Republic.

Interestingly, the model with which the carmaker reached the celebrated figure, is the latest Octavia, which is slated for launch in India sometime in the middle of the year. The car will be used as a VIP vehicle at the Skoda Technology Center in Cesana.

Skoda chairman Prof Dr H C Winfried Vahland said, “Producing 15 million cars is a symbol for the great development of the Skoda brand. We have been building vehicles for 118 years and automobiles since the year 1905. Thus we are among the automobile brands with the richest traditions in the world.”

Skoda looks to increase their annual sales to 1.5 million vehicles by 2018 and announced that it will launch eight new or facelifted models this year globally as part of a strategy to achieve their ambitious sales target.
