While other premium and sports car makers have already begun to offer fully electric models, Lamborghini says its first EV will only arrive towards the end of the decade, and this isn’t a delay but all a part of the plan. Speaking to Autocar India at the launch of the Temerario in Delhi, the Asia-Pacific region director of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., Francesco Scardaoni, said, “The idea was never to be the first ones but to be the best one when it comes to EVs. So, when we created our electrification strategy, the ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’, we knew it was important to set the right time for EVs’ introduction, and we think that is still some time away.”

Lamborghini customers want hybrids right now, not EVs
Indian clients have shown a lot of interest in the Temerario
The first EV will be a 2+2 grand tourer (GT), which Scardaoni said will only arrive by the end of the decade and not earlier. “We believe hybrids are an important step towards electrification, and right now, our customers want these.” He added that a clear indication of the customer acceptance of hybrids is that the Revuelto has been sold out for over two years.
Scardaoni attributes that to Lamborghini’s approach to hybridisation. “For us, hybridisation has no drawbacks. It means adding features and capabilities to the car. So, more power, driveability and agility, and less emissions.” With the two electric motors driving the front axle, the Temerario can achieve torque vectoring much faster than the traditional systems, and the company says it uses brake intervention far fewer times and mostly adjusts torque through rapid motor adjustments. All this leads to a more natural driving feel and faster cornering.
With the Temerario, Lamborghini’s entire line-up is electrified, and Scardaoni said there is already a lot of interest from clients in India. He expects 2025 to be a good year, building on the momentum of 2024, when it delivered a record 113 vehicles in the country.
