The next generation Audi Q7 is almost ready for production. The new car will get a larger front grille, redesigned light clusters. A more angular shape is also visible. The new Audi Q7 is expected to be released in late 2014.

Reports suggest the new Q7 is 350kg lighter than the current model. The car is thought to use a variation of the Volkswagen Group’s MLB platform. The same structure will also be used by the next Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Continental and also the forthcoming Bentley and Lamborghini Urus SUVs, both set to launch in 2016.

Engine options will likely mirror the range of diesel units offered in the current model. This means, the Audi Q7 will get 3.0-litre and 4.2-litre units with outputs varying from 200bhp to 340bhp.

Reports suggest that a hybrid version of the Q7, badged Q7 e-tron, will also be offered by the carmaker. Audi's smaller Q5 SUV already has a hybrid version.
Prices are expected to start at around Rs 45.86 lakh and rise to about Rs 66.25 lakh for a top-specification model.
The new Q7 will rival the new Range Rover, VW Touareg and Mercedes-Benz GL-class.
