Mitsubishi has released images and information of its Ground Tourer PHEV concept ahead of its official debut at the upcoming Paris motor show.

The GT PHEV concept gets Mitsubishi’s hybrid system which uses a trio of motors. Next-generation technology has also been incorporated into the hybrid system, with a more advanced battery pack than the one seen in Mitsubishi’s current hybrid system. The carmaker claims the concept has an electric-only range of 120km, and a combined range that's 10 times this.

Mitsubishi explains the Ground Tourer name comes from the car’s ability to travel great distances and across different terrains, so naturally, the car is all-wheel drive. The concept also showcases Mitsubishi’s connective technology which allows one to feed in route information, such as weather and terrain data, to the car while travelling to aid fuel consumption and road handling.

The images released reveal the full styling of the GT PHEV concept, including the latest iteration of Mitsubishi’s signature ‘dynamic shield’ face. The interior features burgundy leather trims which match the colour of the car’s roof. Not too many details of the interior have been revealed, aside from Mitsubishi’s description of a cocooning dashboard.

The car maker describes the concept as a "high-end, next-generation SUV", suggesting that the model could reach production as Mitsubishi's next flagship.

At the Paris motor show, the GT PHEV concept will be showcased alongside Mitsubishi’s eX concept, as well as latest versions of the Outlander and Outlander PHEV.
