After an action-packed 2025 with as many as four new launches, the next model Mini is readying for India is the Aceman EV for a launch in 2026. This will be positioned as Mini’s entry-level EV in India below the Countryman Electric, but it is likely to be imported as a fully built model. The Aceman EV is built on an extended version of the architecture that underpins the Cooper electric available abroad.

Mini Aceman: what is it?

The Aceman was an all-new addition to Mini's global lineup when it debuted in April 2024 at the Beijing Motor Show. Even though it is based on Cooper hatchback, it is currently the only Mini that’s exclusively sold with an electric powertrain. The Aceman measures 4076mm metres in length, 1754mm in width and 1515mm in height, making it 192mm longer, 23mm wider and 130mm taller than the Cooper hatchback. The wheelbase, at 2606mm, is also 111mm longer than Cooper hatchback.

That also allows for two additional doors, making it a more practical option than the 3-door Cooper available in India. However, it still has a quintessential Mini-esque look, while not being too large and SUV-ish like the Countryman.

Mini Aceman battery and range details

In the UK, the Aceman is offered with two battery pack options – 38.5kWh and 49.2kWh – in E and SE trims, respectively. The former is paired with a 184hp/290Nm electric motor for a WLTP-claimed range of up to 309km, while the latter gets a 218hp/330Nm electric motor for a WLTP range of 405km. There’s also a higher-spec JCW variant available with the 49.2kWh battery pack that produces 258hp and can sprint from standstill to 100kph in a claimed 6.4 seconds.

Mini Aceman exterior and interior

The overall aesthetics are slightly sharper than on the Cooper – it gets more angular headlamps, squared-out wheel arches and rectangular LED tail-lamps at the rear. The real differentiation though is brought about by the rugged body cladding all round, the chunkier bumpers and the roof rails. The design of its interior also mirrors that of other new Minis and includes a large central OLED display for the infotainment.

The Mini Aceman is currently manufactured only in China from where it is exported to other markets, but from early 2026, it will also be manufactured in the UK. It remains to be seen which variant Mini brings to India when the Aceman launches here in 2026.
