Mercedes-Benz recorded a growth of 53 percent (year on year) in the month of March 2015, the company has revealed. It also recorded its highest quarterly sales in the first quarter of the year (January to March 2015) with the sales volume going up to 3,566 units, a rather significant growth of 40 percent over the same period last year.
Mercedes-Benz also recorded its highest-ever fiscal year sales; they sold 11,213 units between April 2014 and March 2015, a gain of 17.5 percent over the same period last year (April 2013-March 2014: 9,548 units). This makes Mercedes the first luxury carmaker to sell over 11,000 units in a fiscal year.
The launch of the new C-class diesel a month ago can be considered to be the main driving force for the carmaker's sales volume in March 2015. The E-class also contributed significantly to the first quarter sales of the company, and is currently the highest sold luxury car in the market.
According to Mercedes-Benz India, the new generation cars, with the addition of the CLA-class also notched good numbers as did the GLA-class. Demand was also high for the ML-class and GL-class SUVs.
While demand for certain Mercedes models continue to remain high in India, the waiting period for the flagship S-class, ML-class, GL-class and the newly launched CLA-class have followed suit too.
