    Maruti's K-series engine crosses 25-lakh production mark

Maruti Suzuki has announced that its K-series petrol engine has crossed the 25-lakh production milestone. It is this K-series engine that powers the likes of Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon R, Swift and Dzire.

The K-series engine was first introduced in the A-Star hatch, in 2008. It now powers majority of the petrol models from Maruti Suzuki including the Ertiga MPV.

C.V Raman, executive director, engineering, Maruti Suzuki said, “Engine refinement is an ongoing effort and going forward our new models will incorporate technologies that further enhance the attributes of high Fuel Efficiency, Low Emissions, superior performance and NVH.”

The K-series engine is also likely to power the soon-to-be-launched Maruti Ciaz sedan. The Ciaz will take on the likes of the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. It is expected to get the 1.4-litre K-series petrol unit that does duty in the Ertiga MPV.
