Entry to the sixth edition of Maruti Suzuki - Autocar India Young Driver contest is now open. The Young Driver award was instituted to promote responsible driving and put the spotlight on road safety, amongst the youth of this country. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 holding a valid Indian license are eligible to participate. Entry closes on August 10, 2014.
The contest is being held in three phases across India, with the finale in Delhi. The first step to the award is an online theory test in the form of a quiz. They will be tested on their knowledge of traffic rules, awareness of road safety and driving regulations. Those who qualify for second stage will go through a driving skill test at their nearest Maruti Driving School, in 42 cities across India. Only 25 of the best drivers from across the country will make it to the finals at the Institute of Driving & Traffic Research in New Delhi. The finalists will be judged on the basis of 20 parameters pertaining to safety, vehicle control, theory knowledge and its application while driving. And one will earn the crown of 'Maruti Suzuki -Autocar India Young Driver of the Year 2014'.
The winner takes home not just a Maruti Alto 800, but also the honour of being an Ambassador of Safe Driving.
