Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), India’s second largest car manufacturer, announced that the company achieved the 4 million sales milestone in its 19 years in India.

“Hyundai today is a 10 product strong brand with class leading products from the Eon to Santa Fe. Hyundai has witnessed success as the fastest growing sales milestone and we assure our commitment to the Indian car market," Y.K. Koo, MD, HMIL said in a company statement.

Moreover, the carmaker also announced that the sales of the i20 hatchback have crossed 1,50,000 units since its launch in March 2014. Earlier in June this year, the manufacturer had announced that the car had achieved the 1 lakh unit milestone meaning that the second-generation i20 has sold 50,000 units in a period of about five months.

The i20 is one of Hyundai’s bestselling models and currently commands a 66 per cent market share in the premium compact segment in the Indian auto market.

Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president – sales & marketing, HMIL said, “We are overwhelmed with the customer’s response by receiving unprecedented 150,000 domestic sales for the Elite i20. This reflects the strong customer connect and confidence on Hyundai products.”
