Hondahttps://www.autocarindia.com/Car-Reviews/Honda.aspx recently announced plans to shift its City production from Greater Noida to Rajasthan. This has caused City production to come to a halt in August, with the move directly translating into a high waiting period.

According to dealers, waiting period for the City has now grown to a minimum of three months. The mid-spec and top-end petrol variants (S, SV, V, VX) have a waiting period of at least three to four months; mid-spec and top-end diesels (S, SV, V, VX) can be had in four to five months. However, waiting period for the petrol automatics (SV, VX) has gone up to around six months. For the base variant (E), Honda has started following a made-to-order policy because of low demand. In comparison, the Hyundai Verna is avialable at a max waiting period of around one month. The production of the City was shifted to Rajasthan to dedicate the Noida plant for the recently launched Mobilio MPV.

Waiting period for the Honda Mobilio is also considerably high. The petrol models can be had in around three months, while the diesel models take around four months for delivery. The waiting period for the sportier RS variant has climbed all the way up to around seven months. Dealers have also confirmed that the top V trim is in high demand. In comparison, The Mobilio's major rival, Maruti Ertiga MPV is available at a waiting period a minimum of three weeks.

The production of the City is expected to resume in September, after which Honda will likely focus on streamlining supply to limit waiting period before it starts affecting sales.
