Jaguar is making inroads into the Indian luxury car market and knows it can’t afford to be slow to offer its very latest. This explains why Jaguar has brought in the face-lifted XF saloon.

The refreshed car gets a new nose, XJ-like slit eyes and a mildly revised tail. Changes to the interiors are subtle though. The face-lift XF continues to be powered by the 3.0-litre V6 diesel, churning out 274bhp and the 5.0-litre V8 petrol developing 380bhp. Jaguar is also looking at plonking the new four-cylinder 2.2-litre diesel engine which makes great sense for fuel economy-minded luxury car buyers. With 188bhp on tap, performance will be more than adequate and efficiency will be better than the 3-litre V6 diesel.

The restyled XF 3.0-litre diesel is priced at Rs 64.22 lakh (on-road Mumbai), making it dearer by Rs 1.5 lakh and the 5.0-litre petrol will retail at Rs 81.88 lakh, making it Rs 3 lakh more expensive. With the face-lifted XF, Jaguar has the potential to really take the fight to the German trio of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi.
