    Evanta Barchetta revealed

Evanta, the British motor company, has revealed its new Barchetta two-seat sports car.

The retro-styled model which has been "inspired by the design language of 1950s motorsport" is described as having "sleek, sweeping curves" and "Anglo-Italian parentage".

The Evanta Barchetta, which is built in Britain, is powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine developing 450bhp. A tubular chassis supports the car's Kevlar bodywork in standard form; a more costly aluminium-bodied version is also available in international markets. Both left and right-hand versions will be built and customers will be able to specify either a manual or an automatic transmission.

The company says the combination of a powerful engine and low weight gives the Barchetta "exceptional agility". A limited production run of 99 units will be made and the company is taking orders for the car now.

Evanta has also announced it will unveil a new GT concept car in 2015, which is planned to be unveiled at the Geneva motor show in March.
