Bentley bets big on upcoming SUV

Bentley is betting big on its upcoming SUV which will go on sale globally in 2016. According to Wolfgang Schreiber, Bentley’s CEO, the Bentley's sales will expand by 50 percent between now and 2018, reflecting the influence of this upcoming SUV.

The new Bentley SUV will be fully built in Crewe, UK and is expected to reach a volume of "at least 3000" units yearly, according to Schreiber. This new SUV will share the existing model line which is manufactured at the same facility.

Bentley has already received around 2000 pre-orders for the upcoming SUV, despite there is little known about the model’s styling or price. Bentley will also launch its first hybrid offering by 2018, which would probably be a plug-in model based on the SUV. This hybrid version is expected to hit the streets a year after the debut of the conventional models.

Bentley in 2013, enjoyed the best-ever year for new car deliveries in its 95-year history. Its sales expanded by 19 percent over 2012 which helped the company beat the 10,000 barrier for the first time ever. Bentley now has 193 showrooms in 54 regions around the world.
