Audi is planning to introduce its S range of performance cars in India soon. Leading the pack will be the S4 and the S6 saloons. The S range is a good layer between Audi’s stock cars and the RS range. This gives Audi an advantage, because AMG for Mercedes and M division cars for BMW are hardcore, but there is nothing to bridge the gap between stock cars and these performance arms.
The S4 is powered by a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 churning out 328bhp, and it gets Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system too. Shod with larger 18-inch wheels and wider rubber, the S4 sports slightly lowered and stiffened suspension for agile handling. Visually though, there are only minor cosmetic differences between the two.
The less hard-edged S range has a small but strategic market in India as it doesn’t trade too much on comfort to gain the extra performance.
