Audi has announced a price hike for its entire model range available in India. While the CBUs will be dearer by 13-14 percent, prices for the locally assembled Audis will be hiked by 3.4-3.7 percent.

The CBU models like the A7 Sportback, Audi A8 L and the RS5 now attract a higher customs duty of 75 percent, which has resulted in a price hike in the range of 13-14 percent. The A7 Sportback is now priced at Rs 66.04 lakh onwards, while the revised prices for the RS5 begins from Rs 85.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Increase in the excise duty implies that the Audi A4, A6 saloon and the Q5 SUV have incurred a price increase in the range of 3.4-3.7 percent. The Audi A4 is now priced at Rs 30.6 lakh.

“Further to the increase in excise duty and customs duty on large cars in this year’s union budget, we have re-evaluated our pricing strategy in India and have increased the prices of all products. However, we are still confident of achieving our sales target of 7500-8000 cars at the end of 2012,” said Michael Perschke, head, Audi India.

In India, Audi achieved a remarkable performance with a figure of 600 cars sold in February 2012 – a growth of 33 percent over the same period last year (450 cars in February 2011). Powering ahead with its ambitious outlook for 2012, Audi plans to sell 8000 cars this year, which will be a significant growth over last year.
