The auto industry seems to be one of the worst hit due to the coronavirus pandemic, as sales of new cars have comes to a complete stop. Considering the nationwide lockdown, car manufacturers are now resorting to digital mediums to gather data of prospective buyers as well as attract them into making a purchase which may have been delayed.

Several manufacturers like Jeep, Mercedes, Honda, Volkswagen, Skoda and BMW have already introduced new online platforms to assist buyers with their bookings. And now joining them is Volvo India, with the announcement of its own contactless car buying programme.

The process is rather simple – a prospective buyer needs to visit Volvo’s official website and leave their contact details as well as a preferred time and date, and a representative from the dealership will get in touch. The Volvo representative will provide assistance with the buying process, documentation as well as the payment transfer. A test drive will be provided to the buyer, if requested for, but that will only be possible once the lockdown period is over.

Volvo has partnered with 3M and all its dealer facilities and demo vehicles are being disinfected, while sales personnel have been provided with personal protective equipment as well as sanitisers.

The carmaker currently has 5 models in its Indian portfolio, namely XC40, XC60, S90, V90 and XC90, and it has a total of 25 dealerships spread across the country.
