666``wwwwwwwttttt```-Benz has launched a brand new E-class 350 in India, just ahead of the festive season. The E-class 350 Avantgarde is priced at Rs 46.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The stunning new E-Class promises to leapfrog rivals with new tech and fresh design. Based on a completely new platform, the E-class 350 Avantgrade is quite a radical departure from the rounded and softer lines of the car it replaces. A more upright grille with a more pronounced V-shape makes the new E look more assertive. At the rear, the winged lights are quite dramatic and the crease on the centre of the boot lid is quite prominent.
The E-class will be powered by the 3498cc V6 petrol from the current S-class. This 272 bhp will provide more than enough grunt for the E-class, which is significantly lighter than the S-class. It’s deceptively quick and touches 160 kph in less than 20 seconds before going on to a claimed top speed of an astonishing 250kph. The seven-speed, 7G-Tronic ’box is even more impressive.
The new beige interiors with a shade of brown look refreshing. The insides are more practical than before, thanks to the column-mounted gear shifter which frees up space in the centre console for large cupholders, which was missing from the previous E-class.
Mercedes has finally given the E-class fully-powered seats. It comes with Merc’s traditional seat pictogram on the door which guarantees a good driving position. The seats are fantastic, taking comfort to a new level thanks to a new combination of foam, a longer backrest and added length in the cushion. The rear seats too are even more comfortable. The backrest angle at the rear is slightly more reclined which adds to comfort.
The E-class comes across as a brilliantly engineered car with outstanding comfort, refinement and top-notch quality. The E-class’s new-found dynamic abilities make it a much more entertaining drive without compromising its core values of unbeatable ride comfort and a stress-free drive.
