Preliminary details and preview images of the Hyundai Kona facelift have officially been revealed. The images provide hints the to the upcoming international model's design.

  • Kona facelift's design to be in-line with the brand's Sensuous Sportiness theme
  • New Kona also expected to get interior and mild mechanical updates

The facelift for the model available in international markets is said to receive more sporty and modern styling. The updates are part of Hyundai's broader Sensuous Sportiness global design theme that will be used on most forthcoming models.

What’s new in the Hyundai Kona teaser images?

We can tell from the teaser that the new Hyundai Kona will get a totally redesigned front-end, with the current hexagonal grille ditched in a favour of a wider, slimmer item stretching across the Kona's face.

New design daytime running lights also feature, alongside a refreshed bumper and skidplate design. Hyundai also claims a wider stance, although it's unclear if this means a wider track or visual tweaks to give the appearance of increased width.

What other changes will the updated Hyundai Kona get?

At the moment, there is no official information regarding other changes. However, we expect mild updates to the Kona's powertrains, upgrades to its cabin and infotainment, and additional driver assistance features for international markets.

Will the Hyundai Kona get N-Line trim?

The facelifted Kona will introduce a new N-Line variant for the first time. The sportily styled model is claimed to feature a more aerodynamic design, with enlarged intakes and a more aggressive front bumper profile. Expect sporty cabin revisions, too.

Will there also be a Hyundai Kona N performance version?

The Kona N-Line is a prelude to the upcoming full-fat Kona N. Expected to be revealed separately later this year, the performance variant has been seen testing and will feature a 200hp+ powertrain (expected to be a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine) and a bespoke chassis set-up.

Is the Hyundai Kona available in India?

Hyundai does not offer the internal combustion engine versions of the Kona in our market. However, the all-electric Hyundai Kona Electric was launched in India last year, with current prices starting from Rs 23.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant. The version for India features a 39kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a 136hp electric motor, with an ARAI-certified range of 452km.

As for whether the Hyundai Kona facelift will make its way to our market, the carmaker has not made any official announcement, yet.
