The current-gen Ford Endeavour SUV, sold as the Everest abroad, has been spotted on a flat-bed truck near Chennai. This is the first spotting of the new Endeavour in India. The model spied is the Ford Everest Trend, which is the entry-level variant of the SUV sold in markets like Thailand and Australia, among others.

New Ford Endeavour India launch details

The model spotted in India is the same one that Ford had filed a design patent for, and this generation of the Endeavour will be all-new for the Indian market when it launches here. As reported by us recently, the new Endeavour could come to India sooner than 2025.

While there are plans to locally assemble the SUV at Ford’s Chennai factory, the American brand could bring the new Endeavour to India sooner by importing fully-built up units without homologation. This will help the brand buy time to ready the now inactive Chennai plant for local assembly. As the plant was already producing the previous Endeavour – which shares some underpinnings with the new-gen SUV – retooling to produce the new model would be relatively easier.

Even after being brought in as an import, prices for the new Ford Endeavour in India could still be competitive when compared to its arch rival, the Fortuner, which now costs around Rs 60 lakh for the top variants in some states.

The Ford Everest sold abroad gets multiple diesel engine options, with displacements of 2.0 and 3.0 litres. It also gets 4x2 and 4x4 options on some variants. The SUV is big on safety and tech, undewrlined by the screens as big as 12.4 inches for infotainment and instrumentation, nine airbags and a lot more, especially on higher variants.

Expect more details on Ford’s India comeback, and the Endeavour’s market launch, in the coming months.
