Maserati India has launched the fully electric ‘Folgore’ versions of the GranTurismo coupe and GranCabrio convertible in India. The GranTurismo Folgore price in India starts at Rs 3.05 crore, whereas the GranCabrio Folgore costs Rs 3.18 crore. Neither of them have any direct rivals at their respective price points.

  1. Maserati GranTurismo, GranCabrio Folgore get 83kWh battery, triple-motor powertrain
  2. Folgore models look largely identical to their ICE-powered siblings
  3. Dual-tone cabin gets a digital driver's display, digital clock, flat-bottomed steering wheel, etc

Maserati GranTurismo, GranCabrio Folgore battery and range

Triple-motor AWD setup helps achieve sub-3sec 0-100kph times.

Both Maserati grand tourers are identical underneath the skin, featuring an 83kWh (usable capacity) battery pack powering a trio of electric motors – one on the front axle, two on the rear – combined output is 761hp (can be boosted temporarily to 829hp) and 1,350Nm. The GranTurismo Folgore takes a claimed 2.7 seconds to hit 100kph from rest, while the 90kg heavier GranCabrio Folgore achieves the same in 2.8 seconds.

DC charging speeds of up to 270kW.

Top speed, meanwhile, is pegged at 325kph for the GranTurismo Folgore and 290kph for the GranCabrio Folgore. Maserati claims a 450km range for the GranTurismo Folgore, while the GranCabrio Folgore can travel a claimed 447km on a single charge. Speaking of which, both Folgore models can be charged at up to 270kW, placing them among the fastest charging EVs in India.

Not very different from their ICE versions.

Visually, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore aren’t all that different compared to their ICE-powered siblings. The EVs can be told apart by their revised bumpers, ‘Folgore’ badging, and different alloy wheels, but they otherwise retain design cues like the sleek LED headlights and tail-lamps, oval grille housing, the Maserati trident emblem, triple slats on the front fenders, and more.

The GranCabrio Folgore comes with a foldable fabric roof that can be lowered or raised in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 50kph. It also gets a neck-warming system with three levels of heat output as standard, and buyers can opt for a wind deflector that further smoothens out airflow over the passengers.

2+2 interior packs in lots of tech.

The interiors of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore are identical too, with 2+2 seating configurations, a neatly laid-out dual-tone dashboard, a flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel, a 12.2-inch digital driver’s display, a centrally mounted customisable digital clock, and a pair of screens lower down that handle infotainment and in-car controls. Artificial engine sounds are also pumped into the cabin via the speakers for a more engaging driving experience.

All prices are ex-showroom, India.
