JLR India has announced the launch of its smartphone integration platform known as InControl Apps. The new platform, developed in partnership with Bosch, will allow users to transfer the phone interface onto the vehicle’s infotainment display and gain access to popular India-specific apps.

JLR and Bosch are said to have worked closely with third-party app developers in India to enable access to an initial set of Android and iOS compatible applications. This set of apps include NDTV, Hungama, MapmyIndia and Zomato. More services are to be added soon.

“InControl App will enhance the overall luxury experience of our vehicles and provide technology savvy customers a more convenient option to access their favourite apps. This is an exciting new technology addition to Land Rover Vehicles, which have already become popular for their design, performance, craftsmanship and luxury credentials”, said Rohit Suri, president, JLR India.

The new InControl Apps platform will be available on Land Rover models such as the 2016 model year Range Rover, its smaller sibling the Range Rover Sport as an option, and as standard on 2016 model year Discovery Sport. The recently launched 2016 Evoque facelift does not come with this feature as of now. However, models of the Evoque delivered post April 2016 will be equipped with this technology.

JLR will also provide this feature on Jaguar cars from next year.

To enhance the connectivity experience, Bosch is also in talks with other vehicle manufacturers who might be keen on utilising this technology.
