Jeep has unveiled a new special edition of the Compass, specifically for the Brazilian market for now. The Jeep Compass Night Eagle is based on the Longitude variant and comes with a number of cosmetic changes over its standard brethren.
A new glossy black finish adorns large sections of the exterior, including the 18-inch alloy wheels, the grille, fog lamp bezels and the Jeep badge’s surrounding. The theme continues in the cabin as well, particularly around the central consol and the AC vents. As the name suggests, the model is only available in black – either a solid ‘shadow’ black or a metallic ‘carbon’ black.
The mechanicals of the Compass remain the same as the standard SUV sold in Brazil. Powertrain options include a 166hp, 2.0-litre Tigershark petrol-ethanol engine mated to a six-speed auto ‘box and the 170hp 2.0-litre turbo-diesel motor paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Like the model sold in India, the petrol-engine only comes with two-wheel-drive while the diesel gets all-wheel drive with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system.
In terms of equipment, the Night Eagle comes with dual-zone climate control, leather seats and the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system, but adds a Beats sound system with nine speakers and a subwoofer, automatic xenon headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and an electrochromic rear-view mirror.
There is no word on whether Jeep will introduce this special edition in India, where the range gets a 1.4-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine with prices starting at Rs 15.16 lakh and going up to Rs 21.37 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company will add the Renegade SUV to its India model portfolio sometime next year.
