Jaguar Land Rover is firming up its back-end operations to support the launch of its first all-electric vehicle in India, the Jaguar I-Pace, which is slated to arrive on March 23, 2021.

  • Jaguar has installed over 35 DC fast chargers across 22 dealerships spanning 19 cities
  • JLR has partnered with Tata Power for home and office charging solutions

Jaguar I Pace launch: Sales support

JLR India’s 22 retail outlets across 19 cities are now EV-ready in terms of infrastructure as well as sales and service staff, the company said in a press statement. The brand says retail staffers have been extensively trained with in-depth and dedicated courses on EVs, thus, enabling them to cater to all requirements and customer queries.

The company has installed over 35 DC fast chargers at these outlets, with plans to increase their numbers. In addition, JLR customers will also be able to charge the Jaguar I-Pace using Tata Power’s EZ Charge Network, which has over 200 DC fast charging points across 23+ cities, installed in malls, offices, residential complexes and on highways.

Additionally, acknowledging the lacklustre charging infrastructure currently available in India, JLR has also partnered with Tata Power to provide home and office charging options to all I-Pace customers

According to Rohit Suri, director, JLR India, “An electric vehicle will not just be a new mobility solution, but owning one will also be a new ownership experience. We recognise this and have worked relentlessly with our retailers to ensure that owning an EV is truly a hassle-free experience for our customers.”

The Jaguar I-Pace will be retailed with a 7.4kW AC wall-mounted charger that is said to recharge the 90kWh lithium-ion battery pack – with an estimated 480km range – to 100 percent from zero in about 10 hours. The DC fast chargers are claimed to be able to top-up the battery to 80 percent in 40min.

Jaguar I Pace: Competition check

The Jaguar I-Pace will go up against the Mercedes-Benz EQC electric SUV, which will be its only competitor at the time of launch. However, the rivalry in the segment is set to increase with the launch of the Audi e-tron – which is expected in the coming months.
