Honda Cars India has issued a voluntary recall of 1,90,578 cars to replace front airbag inflators. The recall affects the previous-generation Accord, CR-V, Civic, City and Jazz, and is part of Honda’s precautionary global recall campaign concerning Takata front airbag inflators. The replacement will be carried out free of cost at company dealerships across India in a phased manner.
While the campaign for the CR-V and Civic will begin immediately, the replacement of inflators for other affected models will begin from September 2016, and the company will communicate with customers directly. Customers can check whether their cars are covered under this campaign by submitting their 17- character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite which has been created on the company’s website, www.hondacarindia.com.
