Prices for the popular Creta SUV have gone up in the range of Rs 20,900 to Rs 55,375.

Hyundai has hiked prices of some of its models due to the recent increase in the cess for midsize, large cars and SUVs. The affected models see their price tags rise by between 2 and 5 percent, effective from September 11, 2017.

The Verna midsize sedan was recently launched at Rs 7.99 lakh but prices will increase by up to Rs 29,090 depending on the variant. The Korean manufacturer had announced that the Verna had received 7,000 bookings within a week of its launch on August 22, 2017. The price hike will affect Hyundai’s plans to sell 12,000 units of the midsize sedan before the upcoming festive season.

Prices for the popular Creta SUV have gone up by Rs 20,900 to Rs 55,375, the Elantra executive sedan by Rs 50,312 to 75,991, and the Tucson SUV by Rs 64,828 to 84,867.

Prices for Hyundai’s small cars and compact sedan remain the same. However, the only hatchback to see an increase is the petrol-automatic variant of the Elite i20, whose price tag is now Rs 12,547 higher.

The announcement by Hyundai is similar to those made by Toyota, Honda and FCA.
