Ford has launched a special edition of the EcoSport with prices starting at Rs 8.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Badged EcoSport Black Edition, the compact SUV is available in three trim levels and features unique black detailing on the exteriors.
Available in the top three trim levels – Trend+, Titanium and Titanium+, the EcoSport Black Edition features a blacked-out grille, wing-mirror housings, alloy wheels, fog-lamp bezels and roof rails. The interiors remain unchanged.
The special-edition EcoSport can be had with three engine options – the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines and the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol motor – and a choice of two gearboxes. A five-speed gearbox is offered as standard, with the 1.5 petrol Titanium variant getting the option of a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The launch of the Black Edition could be a move to offer customers a more stand-out option that can rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza which has the option of dual-tone paint schemes on its top ZDI+ trim. With pricing that's lower than the EcoSport's, the Maruti became a strong contender.
On that account, Ford slashed the prices of the EcoSport by up to Rs 1.12 lakh, as it looked to compete better with its most serious rival to date.
