To celebrate the Nexon’s first anniversary, Tata has brought out two special-edition Kraz and Kraz+ variants, with prices ranging from Rs 7.16-7.78 lakh for the petrol and Rs 8.09-8.65 lakh for the diesel. The Kraz limited-run variant slots between the Nexon XM (Rs 6.92-7.84 lakh) and XT trims (Rs 7.54-8.41 lakh) in the compact SUV’s line-up. It also gets minor cosmetic changes and more equipment to differentiate it from its standard brethren.
On the outside, the Nexon Kraz and Kraz+ feature a new dual-tone black paint scheme with a silver roof; while the wing mirrors, alloy wheels and front grille get splashes of a bright neon green.
The insides of the Nexon Kraz also get highlights of the same shade of bright green on the seats and AC vents. Meanwhile the dashboard, central console and doors get a piano black trim. The Kraz+ variant car also gets appropriate badging on the central console.
Compared to the XM variant, the Nexon Kraz is better-equipped and adds a four-speaker infotainment system by Harman with Bluetooth compatibility, steering-mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable wing mirrors and reverse parking sensors. Additionally, the Kraz+ gets roof rails, power-folding wing mirrors, a cooled and illuminated glove box and an automatic climate control system with rear AC vents.
In the mechanical department, there is nothing to distinguish the Kraz and Kraz+ variants from the standard Nexon trims. The same 110hp, 1.2-litre petrol mill and 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine are on offer mated to a 6-speed manual transmission; interestingly, the 6-speed AMT isn’t on offer with this trim.
The Nexon rivals the likes of the Ford EcoSport (Rs 7.82-11.89 lakh) and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (Rs 7.69-10.61 lakh) and has recently been the recipient of a four-star rating in Global NCAP’s latest round of crash tests. The entire Nexon range is priced in the range of Rs 6.20-10.61 lakh.
