Honda has taken the wraps off its new adventure scooter, the 2019 X-ADV 150 at the 2019 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Though the X-ADV 150 takes inspiration from Honda’s 745cc, twin-cylinder X-ADV scooter that’s designed to tackle both tarmac as well as trails, the X-ADV 150 is more a road-biased scooter. 

To begin with, the X-ADV 150’s design looks more or less like a scaled-down version of the bigger X-ADV. The large front apron, twin LED headlamps and adjustable windscreen is in line with the design language of the larger X-ADV, but the 150’s lines and headlamp placement gives it an identity of its own. The tail section has also been executed neatly and gels seamlessly with the rest of the body.

Measuring 1,950mm long, 763mm wide and 1,153mm high, the X-ADV 150 matched to the Aprilia SR150 the Aprilia in length and height, but it is a much wider machine, and this shows in the images. 

A 149.3cc, 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder engine powers the new X-ADV. It develops 14.7hp at 8,500rpm and 13.8Nm at 6,500rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a V-matic transmission.   

The cycle parts on the Honda X-ADV 150 clearly indicate that this scooter is more road-biased. It gets conventional, right side up telescopic forks and twin, gas-charged Showa shocks at the rear. Also, while the 745cc X-ADV gets tubeless, wire-spoke wheels, the baby X-ADV has alloy wheels (14-inch front and 13-inch rear) shod with block pattern tyres. This suggests that the scooter could handle mild trails. The X-ADV 150's wheels get single petal discs, and the scooter is available in Indonesia in both CBS and ABS-equipped specifications.

Almost every new Honda product gets negative LCD instrument clusters and it's the same case with the new X-ADV 150 as well. The screen is large and displays the necessary information. 

So far, the Grazia 125 and Activa 125 are the most powerful and quickest Honda scooters on sale in India. The X-ADV will be an expensive scooter, even if Honda were to localise parts. Considering this, it looks unlikely that Honda may even be consider launching the X-ADV 150 in the Indian market.
