Yamaha India donates Rs 61.5 lakh to combat COVID-19

Yamaha donated Rs 25 lakh each to the Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu governments, where it has two out of its three manufacturing plants; Rs 11.5 lakh donated to the PM Cares Fund.

Yamaha Motor India Group (YMIG) has donated over Rs 60 lakh to various Indian governmental organisations to combat COVID-19. Today, a cheque of Rs 25 lakh addressed to the Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund was handed over to support the Uttar Pradesh government in its fight against the coronavirus. In the recent past, a cheque of Rs 25 lakh was also given to the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund, Government of Tamil Nadu. Of the total Rs 61.5 lakh, the remainder was donated to the PM Cares Fund.

UP and Tamil Nadu both host Yamaha manufacturing facilities. The third plant that the Japanese two-wheeler maker has is situated in Haryana.

Yamaha has said that the amount was collected through donations from its permanent employees. This includes white collar and blue collar employees, as well as some trainees. These people are based out of all three of Yamaha’s three plants (Kanchipuram, Surajpur and Faridabad), the corporate office in Chennai, and area offices across India.

Sanjiv Paul, Senior Vice President and Vimal Raina, Vice President from Yamaha management handed over the cheque to Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
