British bikemaker Triumph has launched the third product in its Bonneville family, the Thruxton R. The cafe racer version of the T120, this bike is powered by the same 1200cc parallel-twin engine but here, it makes 97hp and 112Nm.

The Thruxton R gets ride-by-wire technology and traction control as standard, and there are three riding modes – Sport, Road and Rain. It uses the T120’s double-cradle, but its 1,415mm wheelbase is shorter and it weighs 21kg (203kg dry weight) lighter as well. The motorcycle features 43mm upside-down big-piston Showa forks at the front and a pair of Ohlins shocks at the rear and the wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres (120/70 ZR17 front and 160/60 ZR17 rear). It gets twin 310mm discs with Brembo four-piston monobloc calipers up front while the rear gets a single 220mm disc with a Nissin caliper.

Speaking at the launch event in Mumbai, Vimal Sumbly, managing director, Triumph Motorcycles India, said, “The Thruxton R is uncompromisingly elegant and imposing lines are perfectly matched by the quality of the design, detailing, power and performance, and the incorporation of contemporary technology into a ride that's as poised as it is exhilarating. This combination of style, performance, heritage and character is what makes the new Thurxton R the real deal as well as the ultimate modern classic cafe racers and something which will enthral the riders here in India."

Priced at Rs 10,90,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Thruxton is the most expensive among the Bonnevilles (Street Twin and T120) on sale here.
