Bikers in the Indian capital were left out, with the Royal Enfield Himalayan not sold in the Delhi region due to a restriction from the transport department. However, the government has now allowed registrations of new two-wheelers launched before April 1, 2016, and meet Bharat Stage III emission norms. The Himalayan as eligible, is now on sale in Delhi, at an attractive on-road price of Rs 1.73 lakh, in two shades – black and white.

With the Himalayan, Royal Enfield has cracked open the adventure segment in India, one that very few manufacturers have explored before. Hero ventured in with the Impulse a few years ago, but has since dropped it from their production line-up.

Adventure bikes offer excellent comfort, and added reliability plus safety. Riding over broken or poorly paved surfaces is a breeze, thanks to long travel suspension. Their tough, rugged construction ensures they last well.

While announcing the Delhi price, Rudratej Singh, president, Royal Enfield stated, “We are delighted to announce the availability of our latest motorcycle, Himalayan, in New Delhi. The timing of the launch in Delhi could not have been better as all motorcycling enthusiasts in the region start frequenting the hills post Holi.”

The Himalayan comes with a four-stroke, air- and oil-cooled, 411cc single-cylinder engine, that outputs 24.5bhp. See more about the Himalayan at-
