Days after Ola announced that it had crossed 20,000 despatches in October, the company has now stated that it has produced one lakh scooters since it first began production in late October 2021. The milestone was achieved at its all-women workforce assembly line at its Krishnagiri plant. As of the time of publishing this article, 77,315 Ola e-scooters have been registered on the government's VAHAN portal (which does not contain data from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh).

Ola Electric's ride in India's two-wheeler market has been quite a rollercoaster. The EV maker claimed to have received over one lakh orders for the S1 e-scooter within 24 hours of bookings opening in July 2021.

Despite a slow build up in the initial months – along with customer service issues, production delays and extended waiting periods – the company has now hit the one lakh production milestone. Even so, this is up there with manufacturers like Kia to become among the fastest new automobile companies in India to hit this figure.

Company founder Bhavish Aggarwal has stated that, “the next one lakh will be in half this time as the transition to EVs gathers even more pace. India is closer towards making Mission Electric a reality than ever before”. At the Ola S1 Air launch last month, which costs Rs 79,999, Bhavish Aggarwal said that the company has scaled up production and is manufacturing over 1,000 vehicles a day.
