Deliveries of the Oben Rorr are finally set to commence in the first week of July 2023. Originally, deliveries were scheduled to begin last festive season, which was then pushed back to the first quarter of 2023. Currently, the Rorr costs Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India), which is a 50 percent increase over its previous price.

The Rorr has an LFP or lithium-iron phosphate battery, which is a different kind of Li-ion battery that has a number of advantages (better chemical and thermal stability, for one) and also a few shortcomings (lower energy density), compared to its traditional counterpart.

With a 4.4kWh battery, the company claims the e-bike can cover an IDC-claimed range of 187km on a single charge, which is slightly down from the 200km figure they had claimed at the first ride event last year. The company claims that this slight drop in the range numbers is due to it making "minor optimisations" to the battery pack to ensure compliance with the latest battery safety regulations. This has also contributed to an increase in price of the Rorr electric bike. The company claims that the Rorr’s battery can be charged fully in 2 hours, when plugged into a 15A socket.

When we rode the Oben Rorr last year, we were impressed with the simple, straightforward approach it took to electric mobility, but also thought that it needed a healthy dose of finesse to round out its rough edges before it went on sale.
