Detailed specifications for The Trip, the Indian-made motorcycle from Italian Moto Guzzi, have now been revealed. As we reported last month, it shares the powertrain and other components with the Aprilia Tuono 457.
- The 457cc parallel-twin engine makes 47.6hp and 43.5Nm of torque
- The Trip gets preload-adjustable suspension at both ends
- Features a 3.6-inch round instrument cluster, 3 riding modes and traction control
Moto Guzzi The Trip: Details
Both Moto Guzzi and Aprilia have the same parent company: Piaggio
The Trip is powered by the 457cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 47.6hp at 9,400rpm and 43.5Nm of torque at 6,500rpm (which is 200rpm earlier than the Tuono 457), mated to a 6-speed gearbox, like the Aprilia Tuono 457. The suspension duties are handled by a 41mm USD fork at the front and an offset monoshock at the rear; both are preload adjustable. The cycle parts are also carried forward from the Tuono 457, meaning the 17-inch wheels, 320mm front disc and 220mm rear disc are the same on The Trip.
The bike gets a new chassis and swingarm setup. It has an accessible 790mm seat height and a 15-litre metal fuel tank and weighs 180kg. Its electronic aids comprise a 3.6-inch round TFT display, dual-channel ABS, traction control and three riding modes (Road, Rain and Sport). The motorcycle will be offered in three colours: Black Metropolis, Green Grove and Red Beat. There’s also a special edition called The Opening.
Moto Guzzi has not yet confirmed whether The Trip will launch in India. However, since it shares its core engine and electronics with the Aprilia Tuono 457, which retails at Rs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom), we expect it to have a slightly lower price should it arrive here.
