Honda CB1000 Hornet SP engine and price

The CB1000 Hornet costs Rs 3.86 lakh more than the CB750 Hornet

A couple of days after we reported that Honda was gearing up to launch the CB1000 Hornet in India, the company has done so. The CB1000 Hornet SP is available in its higher-spec SP guise and features a 999cc inline-4 liquid-cooled engine that produces 157hp at 11,000rpm and 107Nm at 9,000rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a bi-directional quickshifter.

Handling the suspension duties are a Showa USD fork and an Ohlins monoshock, both fully adjustable. Braking hardware includes twin 310mm discs with radially mounted Brembo Stylema calipers and a 240mm disc at the rear.

The CB1000 Hornet SP is equipped with a 5-inch TFT display, similar to the one seen on the CB750 Hornet, with smartphone connectivity for music, navigation and call information. The safety suite includes five rider modes (Sport, Standard, Rain and two custom modes) and three levels of traction control.

At Rs 12.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram), the only real rival to the Honda CB1000 Hornet is the Rs 13.61 lakh Suzuki Katana, and it undercuts the Ducati Monster SP (Rs 15.95 lakh). In terms of pricing, it is similar to middleweight bikes such as the Triumph Street Triple RS, which costs Rs 11.81 lakh-12.07 lakh. The CB1000 Hornet will be sold exclusively via Honda’s BigWing Topline dealer network in India, and deliveries will commence in June.
