Ducati India has confirmed a recall affecting 393 units of the Panigale V4 (2018-2024) and Streetfighter V4 (2018-2025) over a potential defect in the rear wheel axle of the single-sided swingarm. The move is part of a wider global recall covering the same models.

The recall stems from an isolated incident in September 2023, when a rear axle broke while a motorcycle was in motion, though no wheel detachment occurred, reportedly. The recall will involve inspection and potential replacement of the rear axle, if necessary.
Ducati India has confirmed to us that our market will also be a part of this recall. A total of 393 units of the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 are affected, and Ducati is contacting owners of the affected VIN models to schedule axle replacements at authorised dealerships.
A clear reason for this sole recorded incident that occurred in 2023 has not been identified. According to documents filed with the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) in the US, multiple factors could contribute to axle failure, including mileage, vehicle condition and incorrect torque application during wheel or chain adjustments. Around 10,000 units in the US are affected, covering the Panigale/Streetfighter V4(S) as well as the top-tier Panigale V4 R and Superleggera V4. Nearly 7,000 units in Germany are affected, with reports also emerging from Canada and other international markets.
