Ducati has just launched the Multistrada 1260 Enduro (Ducati Red) at Rs 19.99 lakh, making it Rs 1.96 lakh more expensive than the bike it replaces – the Enduro 1200 that was priced at Rs 18.03 lakh. It’s also Rs 2.2 lakh more expensive than the standard Multistrada 1260 that costs Rs 17.8 lakh. The 1260 Enduro is also available in a Sand colour scheme at Rs 20.23 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India).

The Multistrada Enduro line of motorcycles are more off-road oriented versions of the already versatile, regular Multistrada bikes and was introduced in 2016, enhancing the adventure-tourer status of the Multistrada. The 1260 is the latest addition to the Enduro family and is powered by the same 1,262cc twin that produces 158.3hp at 9,500rpm and 128Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. A 6-speed gearbox mated to the up-down Ducati Quick Shifter is standard. We’ve already ridden the motorcycle abroad, and you can read all about it here.

Also on offer is a very impressive electronics package that includes a six-axis IMU, cornering ABS, four tailorable riding modes (Urban, Sport, Touring and Enduro), Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Traction Control, Vehicle Hold Control (hill-hold assist) and a Skyhook suspension package. The 5.0-inch TFT display can be paired to a smartphone, and lets you monitor ride statics and even alter the bike’s setup.

The Enduro 1260 is a tall motorcycle, given its off-road intended design. However, Ducati has made some changes from the previous generation to make it a tad more accessible. Firstly, suspension travel at either end has been reduced to 185mm (down by 15mm) and the standard seat height, too, has been dropped by 10mm to 860mm. An optional low-seat height option of 840mm is available as well. The 1260 Enduro comes with tubeless Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres – 120/70 R19 at the front and 170/60 R17 at the rear – shod on wire-spoke wheels. It also happens to be a rather heavy motorcycle with a kerb weight of 254kg.

In terms of competition, the Multistrada Enduro 1260 will rival the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure (Rs 18.25 lakh), a motorcycle that’s considered the quintessence of the segment. The segment also consists of another very capable motorcycle – the Tiger 1200 XCx priced at Rs 17 lakh.

Bookings for the new Multistrada Enduro 1260 can be made across all Ducati dealerships in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad.

All prices, ex-showroom India.
