The Ducati Hypermotard 950 was the Italian manufacturer’s last supermotard with a twin-cylinder engine, and it was discontinued early this year. As it did with the other 937cc V-twin Testastretta-powered bikes, Ducati introduced a Hypermotard V2 as a successor to the 950, in both regular and SP guises. These models are now available in our market, starting from Rs 16.53 lakh and Rs 20.78 lakh, respectively.
- Hypermotard V2 has the most powerful 890cc V-twin with 120.4hp and 94Nm
- V2 SP gets Ohlins suspension and Rosso Corsa tyres as standard, among others
Ducati Hypermotard V2: What’s changed from the 950?
Updated livery, V-twin engine and chassis
It’s become a pattern for Ducatis gaining the V2 engine to also get a new monocoque frame. The Hypermotard V2 is no exception, with the headlining changes once again being those two things. The new 890cc, V-twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine makes 120.4hp and 94Nm in the Hypermotard. Although the engine is shared with other Ducatis – like the Monster V2 – it makes the most power and torque in this motorcycle. Compared to the 950’s engine, that’s an increase of 6hp and a decrease of 2Nm. The V2 also gets a 10mm wider rear tyre, upgrades the factory tyres to Diablo Rosso IV from III, and the front brake calipers to Brembo M4.32.
The Hypermotard V2 is suspended by a fully adjustable KYB 46mm fork with 170mm travel and a preload and rebound adjustable monoshock with 160mm at the rear. Seat height is at 880mm, which can be dropped to 865mm with an accessory low seat, or 850mm with the low seat and a low suspension kit. As standard, the Hypermotard V2 offers all the rider aids from the 950 some of which are a 5-inch TFT display, ride/power modes, and a bi-directional quickshifter. The SP offers Ohlins suspension at both ends, swaps the Rosso IVs for Rosso IV Corsas. Its kerb weight without fuel is 177kg, 3kg less than the standard model.
The standard Hypermotard V2 is offered in classic Ducati Red, while the SP gets a special sports livery with a ‘20’ decal commemorating 20 years since the motorcycle’s original launch at EICMA ‘05. Bookings for both the motorcycles are now open at showrooms across the country.
